Corporate Director, Export Operations Compliance
This is a critical hands-on management position responsible for directing and overseeing the export compliance efforts of all the company’s export-related activities in different geographical areas. At a minimum, Director will be expected to: 1) provide day-to-day operational advice and instruction on export-related matters to company’s business units, including hands-on assistance with drafting, reviewing and filing licenses, technical assistance agreements, commodity jurisdiction requests, classification requests and other applicable documentation to ensure compliance; 2) manage and motivate the company appointed export administrators operating in a highly dynamic environment; 3) provide hands-on program and functional management with insights into key export activities; and 4) liaison with US Government regulatory agencies involved in technology transfer. Director will be a designated Empowered Official. In addition to interfacing with the Legal Department and senior management, Director will need to work closely and liaise with Corporate Director – International Affairs – Training and Audit.
Additional Duties:
- Director will interface with customs brokers and freight forwarders as needed.
- Director will participate in and assist as needed with annual company-wide export compliance training and assist as needed with training of the company’s export administrators and other personnel as needed.
- Director will assist as needed in export-related due diligence on potential acquisitions and assist with integration and training of acquired companies with respect to the company’s export compliance program.
- Director will assist as needed with the maintenance and updating, as appropriate, the company policy and procedures on export, import and FCPA compliance.
- Director will assist as needed with review, evaluation and audit of company’s business units in respect of compliance with company policy and procedures and export laws and regulations.
- Director will assist as needed with the investigation and resolution of export, import and FCPA compliance issues, including filing of voluntary disclosures with applicable U.S. government agencies.
- Director may be asked to assist as needed with import, customs, FCPA and ethics compliance issues and matters.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
Experience:
Bachelors degree with at least 5 years current export compliance experience – ITAR and EAR. Prior direct experience with the State Department and/or Commerce Department is preferred. Contract experience would be beneficial. Ability to obtain U.S. security clearance.

- a proven track record of progressively responsible interface and support with diverse groups of subject matter experts in a dynamic environment;
- experience directly supporting persons at multiple locations;
- a knowledge of planning and management tools;
- an ability to work efficiently and effectively with business units, legal, contracts and executive company personnel, as well as customers, US Government officials and service providers;
- a thorough and demonstrated current knowledge of US Government export requirements;
- excellent written and verbal communication skills; and
- an ability to educate and train others with respect to export compliance. Strong interpersonal skills. The incumbent should be highly proficient in various PC-based software packages.
Other:
- Evening hours and some weekends. Frequent travel to company locations across North America.
- Potential travel to United Kingdom, Mexico, China and Singapore. Potential travel to acquisition targets.
