IIEI Tuition Refund Policy (Effective as of January 1, 2008):
Any money due the student will be refunded within 30 days of the cancellation or withdrawal request, which may be conveyed in any manner. To ensure that their request has been received, students should submit their request, using IIEI’s Course Withdrawal form, in writing—either in email or through written correspondence using the U.S. Mail, or via telephone speaking with their IIEI Enrollment Advisor, or via FAX directed to the appropriate party. The date IIEI receives your request will be the official cancellation date. To ensure that you have proof of your withdrawal status, your request will be confirmed via email to you. If you do not receive a confirmation email of our receipt of your cancellation, you should contact your Enrollment Advisor to confirm our receipt of your request.
A student who cancels within five days after enrolling, but before the start of class, will receive a refund of all money paid to the institution. After five days of registration, but before the start of class, a non-refundable 20% administrative fee will be assessed all cancellations. Once a class has started, the date of receipt of the cancellation request is the date used to determine the refundable tuition amount percentage. Refundable tuition is the total course tuition MINUS the registration fee.
If the student enrolls in two or more courses at one time, each course must be treated separately for the purposes of calculating any refundable tuition to the student. For example, a student enrolls in three distinct three-credit courses, but completes only part of one course, the student is entitled to a full refund on the remaining two courses that were not yet started, PROVIDED that the above criteria have been met- that the student also canceled the additional classes within the five days of registration.
The table below sets out the percentage of tuition that will be refunded to students who complete only part of a course.

*Refundable Tuition Due
Refundable tuition is the total course tuition minus the registration fee** multiplied by the refund percentage.
**The registration fee is 20% of the course tuition, or $200, whichever is less.
IIEI Student Reschedule Policy (Effective as of January 1, 2008):
Reschedule Option: This option is only available prior to the standard registration deadline of one (1) week prior to the class start date. In lieu of a refund, during this period, a student may request to reschedule their current course to a future start date. All tuition and fees, if not already paid, are due in full at the time of this request, and this tuition credit will be applied to the future start date. The tuition credit can only be applied to any future class of equal or lesser value within one (1) year from issue date. No refunds are permitted whatsoever after a credit has been issued.
If payment for the course in question was granted using Deferral Promissory Note, the credit card provided on the note will be charged prior to granting the tuition credit.
For further details please review the Student Reschedule Request Form, available here.
For example:
If a student withdraws from a six-week class with tuition of $885.00 after Week Two, the refund would be calculated:
$885.00
177.00 -- less the 20% Administrative Fee
$708.00 -- Refundable Tuition Amount
X 40% -- Percentage of Refundable Tuition after Week Two
$283.20 -- Amount to be Refunded
Certification Exam Course Requirements:
IIEI courses are not required for an individual to sit for a certification exam. However, in order to increase an individual's chances of successfully completing the exam, they are highly recommended as they are the best means of mastering the stated learning objectives and major topics set forth by the Certification Board of Governors.
The Certification Board of Governors has made the following recommendations for students who would like to take a certification exam without participating in the requisite coursework:
An individual may petition the certification department for a waiver for any and/or all courses in order to sit for an exam based upon work and life experience. Students should forward their resume and a letter detailing how their work experience meets the learning objectives for each course required for the certification exam in question. Petitions should be submitted at
least 60 days before the desired test date. The certification department will evaluate your experience, knowledge and skills to give an indicator as to whether we believe they have a reasonable expectation of passing the exam. Most waiver determinations are made within 30 days. Waivers are granted at the discretion of the certification department and all decisions are final.
Students who choose to sit for the exam without completing the requisite coursework or without the award of waivers are welcome to sit for the exam. However, unlike those who have completed the courses or who have received waivers, if they do not pass any portion of the exam, they cannot retake the exam without completing all of the suggested coursework.
Please contact the certification department at 602.648.5750 for more information.
