Instructions for Prospective Authors
The Journal of Practical Global Business®
INSTRUCTIONS FOR PROSPECTIVE AUTHORS
The Journal of Practical Global Business® publishes articles that deal with all aspects of global business and global business education. Our intent is to serve as a forum for the expression of current thought, technique, theory, ideas, issues, trends, and innovations in the field. Although not intended for the reporting of original research, the implications of such research for practitioners and educators is certainly an appropriate subject matter for authors. Almost any issue which deals with any "concept" of "global business" is appropriate for the Journal. This broad range of topics spans the spectrum from literature review to business application.
Because the appeal of the Journal encompasses a large domain and a multifaceted group of professionals and educators, editorial policy will be somewhat less stringent than more research oriented periodicals. To that end, the following guidelines have been established. As a matter of editorial policy, we will not decline to review (or return without review) any manuscript submitted solely on the basis of format. However, it is our expectation that final versions of papers submitted for publication will meet an established standard as outlined below.
FORMAT: Manuscripts should follow a published standard well established in the field. There is no preferred format and the order of appearance below does not connote preference. We recommend manuscripts follow one of the following standards: (1) publication standards established by the Academy of Management Journal (2) publication standards established by the Modem Language Association (MLA); (3) publication standards of the Chicago Manual of Style: or (4) the publication standards established by the American Psychological Association (APA).
INITIAL SUBMISSIONS: Manuscripts submitted for publication consideration should be printed on a standard size paper (8.5 by 11) and should be double-spaced throughout. These manuscripts should include a title page, which includes the title of the article and appropriate contact information for the author. The second page should repeat the title of the article and include a brief (not to exceed 100 word) abstract or executive summary. Succeeding pages should not contain the name of the author or any identification data which would allow the reviewer to determine authorship. We recognize the "different' nature of the Journal content, and understand that sometimes length of the article does not reflect value or content. There is, therefore no minimum size for an article, However, complete manuscripts (including references, endnotes and/or bibliography) normally should not exceed 25- 30 pages in length. Authors should submit one original and three copies of their manuscript for the review process. Submission of the article on a computer disk is required. This will greatly facilitate production should the article be accepted for publication.
REVIEW: Manuscripts are reviewed by at least two scholars and/or industry experts in a blind review process. Authors will receive acknowledgement of receipt of manuscripts and will (under normal circumstances) be notified within 60 days of the results of the review. If reviewers recommend changes, authors will receive a copy of suggested changes and a timeline for re-submission of their manuscripts. Generally, manuscripts resubmitted within 120 days will continue the review process through publication (if appropriate). If the manuscript is submitted after the 120 day time period, it will begin the process again as though it was an original submission. We cannot return manuscripts unless you provide a self-addressed stamped envelope for that purpose.
ACCEPTED SUBMISSIONS: if your manuscript is accepted for publication, you will be expected to provide camera-ready copies of all graphs, charts, and tables. It will enhance the processing of your text by submitting your manuscript in computer disk format as well, including graphs, charts and tables. Any IBM or DOS word processor is acceptable (although we would prefer Word ®). Authors will receive three complimentary copies of the published journals shortly after publication.
